t.e.l.l. was born out of a desire to capture the essence of living locally in New England. What we mean by this is focusing on locally grown, locally produced and local experiences. We convey the story of New England through our quarterly publication and our online experience. We are a design and photography team with a passion for local culture and the ambition to tell the story of growing up and living in the Northeast. Finding constant inspiration in our surroundings, we strive to bring light to this unique culture found within the six surrounding states. This publication is our tribute to and support for New England's communities, small businesses, people and their stories. It is our hope to deliver a consistent stream of unique anecdotes based on New England's traditions and cultures.

Mandi Tompkins is an advertising professional based in Boston, Massachusetts, whose love of New England started at a very young age. She grew up in Needham, a suburb of Boston, but spent much of her childhood exploring New England with her family and friends - summers in Maine, ski trips in the White Mountains, summer camp in New Hampshire, and many visits to the Cape and Islands. Mandi graduated from Syracuse University in 2007, where she majored in Magazine Journalism and learned to love travel writing (especially Bill Bryson). Today she finds inspiration in her many trips around New England, especially Maine, her self-proclaimed "happy place."
