t.e.l.l. needs your help! In an effort to take this publication off the computer screens and onto your coffee table, we have launched our official Kickstarter campaign! We have an aggressive goal in mind, but we have faith in the t.e.l.l. community. Check out the full campaign at the link below!
New England is a uniquely wonderful region that is defined by its seasons. Its harsh and bitterly cold winters delight in the vibrant cherry blossoms of spring. Blissful summer evenings listening to frogs croak on the lakeshore give way to the bursting colors of autumn's foliage. But these seasons are not the only thing that defines New England. We believe that the stories told here for centuries – a tradition we hope to continue – is integral to our foundation.
t.e.l.l. New England was formed in 2013 as a creative outlet and way to express a unified love for New England through photography and storytelling. It has since grown into a quarterly digital publication that consistently delivers unique stories from New England by New Englanders. Almost three years later, we believe now is the time to bring our digital publication to print so that we can continue our mission to support and celebrate our community.
t.e.l.l. wouldn't be where we are today without the amazing support and help of our contributors. A talented team of photographers, writers, illustrators, and artists have all helped shape this magazine. And we plan on working with contributors moving forward. Many of our features have included recipes utilizing regionally and seasonally relevant foods, 'Meet the Maker' features, community guides, DIY-tips and tricks, and many more. Each issue is shaped by two factors, New England and a pre-selected theme, and will continue to be formed in this manner. The features and stories fall into place around those things, and are brought to life with stunning photography, poetry, long-form written features, Q&As, illustrations and other artwork. A sample of spreads from varying issues is below...
"Local" is more than just a movement. Local is supporting your neighbor, the farmer and their family down the street, and the 'mom & pop' store on the corner. Supporting local helps to build a sense of community and encourages us to define a sense of place. Local creates character, and we feel that New England is full of character. At t.e.l.l., we love sharing the story of local.
Our goal is to consistently seek out those small businesses; cafes, bakeries, farms, restaurants, makers, crafters and doers - and give them a voice to the larger community through t.e.l.l. By creating a tangible printed piece we believe more of our community can benefit from and enjoy our stories.
We've worked with some amazing New England initiatives thus far, and are excited to push our reach even further. A printed publication will help us establish a clear voice within the New England community.
We are a small but determined team of three women based in New England. Our goal has been and will continue to be delivering stories of a local New England.
