Boston HandyWorks is a social enterprise of Pine Street Inn. They are a nonprofit organization whose mission it is to end homelessness through on-the-job training programs and a transitional work opportunity designed to get individuals off the streets and back into the workforce where a world of opportunity awaits. You may remember Boston HandyWorks from our 7th installment, The Giving Issue.
The men and women of this organization create beautiful, hand-crafted wood cutting boards and other products - a perfect gift for anyone this holiday season.
With every cutting board that is sold, 100% of the proceeds go towards funding the Boston HandyWorks training program, providing education, training and resources to help rebuild lives. The employees come from Pine Street Inn, from Pine Street’s group housing sites, area shelters, as well as from sober houses, pre-release centers, and halfway houses.
The sale of each cutting board provides much more than a profit. It provides hope and a second chance to countless men and women in the greater Boston area.
Shop a selection of items on their online store, or catch Boston HandyWorks at some upcoming holiday markets and craft fairs to get all your hand-crafted cutting board needs fulfilled.
Catch Boston HandyWorks on Saturday, December 5th from 10 AM - 2 PM at 1859 Centre St. West Roxbury, MA for the Theodore Parker Unitarian Church Winter Fair or next Saturday, December 12th from 9 AM - 4 PM at the St. Theresa’s Parish Holiday Awareness Craft Fair.
