If you've ever stepped foot inside Templeton General, you probably felt in awe by all the amazing and wonderfully curated objects available to you. Templeton General, located in Boston's ever-growing Fort Port neighborhood, is a "gift and curiosities shop, offer(ing) the finest in housewares, textiles, bath products and artful goods, with an emphasis on savvy design and quality." Founded in January 2014 by Laura Sabolefski, the store offers more than just the finest goods & wares, Laura also offers workshops taught by in-house or guest talent. This brick-and-mortar is a must-visit any time of the year!
Laura is no new-comer to retail. She was the general manager, buyer, and merchandiser for Boston & Cambridge shops, Black Ink and The Gardener (California). After many years of running those stints, it was time to branch out on her own, thus the introduction of Templeton General.
Templeton General actually takes its namesake and inspiration from The Templeton Country Store. When Laura was a child, her parents moved the family to a small town in central Massachusetts. With the entrepreneurial flame burning, they opened a country store in the center of town - a one-stop-shop for all your needs. Whether it be the morning paper, a cup of coffee or groceries for the week, the store had all you needed and more. 40 years later, Templeton General opened their doors and welcomed Boston into it's wonderful world of curiosities and crafted goods.
Located in the former textile warehouse district currently known as the Innovation District in Fort Point, Templeton General has become a neighborhood standout within the area. The shop is open year-round, Tuesdays - Friday from
11 AM - 7 PM, and Saturdays 11 AM - 5 PM.
This Friday, December 11th, Join Templeton General and a handful of other wonderful New England makers (like Of Note and Salt Cellar Shop) for an in-store pop-up during Fort Point's Holiday Stroll (4 PM - 8 PM). Stroll through the historic neighborhood, enjoy sips and snack and shop local!
